Coming to an End

Tuesday evening marked the grand opening of the “Central Film Palace” in Kaiserslautern, an event which attracted crowds of visitors and had the feel of an Oscar ceremony. Around 210 representatives from the large film distributors and the German Film Theatre guild, as well as celebrities from the world of politics and culture, celebrated together with Hans Rainer Sachs, the entrepreneur who converted the old “Central Cinema” for approximately 3.5 million German Marks. The historic facade of the cinema – which had been built in 1913 as one of the first major cinema palaces in Germany – was kept in its original form.
